App Store statistics

November 12, 2010 — Leave a comment

Just another pet project. This time it’s a web application.

Since my first application has been submitted to App store I wanted to have statistics for downloads in some convenient form (it used to be available in CSV form only), and preferably on web. There were a couple of OS X application that would visualize stats for you, but none for the web. So I though it would make a nice project for learning Rails. But once first prototype was ready Apple changed app store design and presented new and shiny dashboard with graphs, bells and whistles.

I didn’t feel like competing with Apple and decided to give up all the fancy analytic features and limit to the only functionality that was vital: show graphs for N last days and M last weeks.

My App Store stats is not something to brag about but there is nothing to hide either. They are provided just as a demo of the application. If you’re interested in code – let me know, I’ll clean it up a bit (hey, it’s my first Rail app after all) and upload to github.
