Audiobook Binder 1.10

January 13, 2011 — Leave a comment

It’s minor release with minor changes:

  • Volume limit was increased to 24 hours
  • Some menu reshuffling to make it conform HIG
  • Icon was chanaged

I did this release as a preparation to Mac App Store submit. One of the requirements for it – 512×512 icon. Original Audibook Binder icon was available only as a 256×256 png so I ran through openclipart.org and put a vector version together. Far from being a masterpiece but will do :)

Audiobook Binder 1.9 has been released. No huge changes, just some improvements: you can now listen for an audio file to make sure that it is what you think it is. Navigate chapters/files tree and fold/unfold nodes with arrow keys. And for those who prefers command line version of the tool – better error reporting and some improvements for files list handling.

It’s a long overdue but better late then never. I started to write documentation for Audiobook Binder.

First bit of documentation covers most muddy area: creating audiobook with chapters. Lately there were several complaints about unintuitive nature of chapters-related part of UI and proper solution would be to review and fix interface, of course. But unfortunately it’s unlikely to happen for next few months. Though I still working on improving Audiobook Binder reworking UI just doesn’t fit the time slot allocated for this project. So new tutorial is provided as a workaround for this issue. Read it and let me know your opinion: Audiobook Binder Tutorial: Chapters.

Second bit is merely published version of README that is included in dmg image file. It describes options and use cases for command-line version of Audiobook Binder abbinder.

App Store statistics

November 12, 2010 — Leave a comment

Just another pet project. This time it’s a web application.

Since my first application has been submitted to App store I wanted to have statistics for downloads in some convenient form (it used to be available in CSV form only), and preferably on web. There were a couple of OS X application that would visualize stats for you, but none for the web. So I though it would make a nice project for learning Rails. But once first prototype was ready Apple changed app store design and presented new and shiny dashboard with graphs, bells and whistles.

I didn’t feel like competing with Apple and decided to give up all the fancy analytic features and limit to the only functionality that was vital: show graphs for N last days and M last weeks.

My App Store stats is not something to brag about but there is nothing to hide either. They are provided just as a demo of the application. If you’re interested in code – let me know, I’ll clean it up a bit (hey, it’s my first Rail app after all) and upload to github.
